Our 4.5 day work week is here to stay!

A few months ago we set out on a trial, to see if we could start a little later on a Monday and finish a little earlier on a Friday – and to discover what impact that would have on our worklife balance, mental health and overall productivity.

We anonymously surveyed our whole team at the end of each month and tracked workload and anyone having to stay late which is usually rare at Brilliant.

My work life balance has really improved with the extra time, it allows for me to enjoy my weekend fully and I now look forward to Mondays.

It's made me use all my time outside of work better, not just Monday mornings as it's shown me how valuable the extra free time can be.

The 4.5 day working week has been mostly positive for my work-life balance and has been helpful when it comes to making travel arrangements.

No mad dashes to the station after work and the ability to travel from afar on Monday mornings have definitely added greater flexibility for weekend plans!
In the main, it also hasn't impacted my workload as drastically as I thought it might have.

The 4.5 work week has been really positive as it has allowed me to regain work-life balance, feel less stressed and be more productive during my time at work. This is because I have more time to live a healthier life (exercise, meal prep etc), do my admin (work and general life) and have more brain space to be creative!

I start the week off feeling productive and still have time to walk to work and get a coffee on the way in too.

Despite the reduced hours I think we're all just working more efficiently and things feel really organised.

The results are in and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive with little impact on our ability to deliver our work, in fact the team has been more positive, more productive and even more creative than ever!

It’s been amazing to see what a small tweak to our working week’s hours has resulted in and we’re happy to be able to offer this benefit to our team longterm!

I think it's a great benefit! It really makes a difference not having to rush on a Monday morning and instead, ease myself into the week.
Also, being able to down tools and relax earlier on a Friday lets me enjoy the weekend all the more.

I think it helps keep my brain focused and prevents it from flagging - particularly on a Friday afternoon - and sets the week of workload up for success with the slightly later start on the Monday.
