Keep it simple, keep it clear, keep it Brilliant.

Forget gold, silver and fancy jewels, the most precious commodity we have is our time. How we choose to spend it and more importantly, who we choose to spend it with is largely up to us.

To help us and each other invest our time, we use the art of communication. We all communicate on a daily basis in a variety of ways, but it’s the quality of how we make our point in whatever medium we use that has a huge effect on our daily lives.

Being the new boy in the Brilliant family I’m immersing myself in the culture, appreciating the values, finding that I already share the core values within the team, especially that of the value of time, that of others and the importance of clear, simple communication.

“Time is the one thing we all have in equal measure, be considerate of how you spend yours and also how you use other people’s. Only hold meetings with agendas and make them time-bound.

Meetings are there to discuss solutions and make decisions, not to define and discuss problems.

If you’re not adding value or contributing to a meeting, leave and do something more productive”.

Being Brilliant Handbook 2019

At the time of writing this, I’m coming to the end of my second week of my Brilliant journey, learning new skills whilst adding my own to the mix, picking up from the team along the way how things are done here at Brilliant, appreciating the vast array of talent within the team here and how we get things done in an open and friendly way. These first 2 weeks have flown by which is exactly why time, coupled effective communication should be treasured.

There’s a certain skill to good communication. Keep it simple, keep it clear, keep it Brilliant.
