Change your tool. It might change your thought process.
It’s difficult to feel creative all of the time, and it’s even easier to assume creatives can spring into action at the click of a finger. So, if you’re simply having one of those days (and we all have them), why not try changing your tool?
I’ve lost count at the number of times I’ve looked at a blank art board on my screen and thought ‘WTF.’ Equally, picking up a pen and beginning to leave lifeless markings on a layout pad. This can help to focus on an idea, but at times, doesn’t allow you the freedom needed to power through that creative block.
Why not try picking up a paintbrush? A fountain pen? Acrylics? Cutting up newspapers, or playing around with that redundant office scanner? Do whatever it takes to leave a mark and add a dash of personality onto the medium in front of you.
I’m not saying this is the solution, but it can open the mind.
